Hi John,

Those Japanese floating factory ships were a marvel. And you bet, an absolutely unfair advantage was afforded them by MITI's machinations and the fact that as a high seas operator, they could avoid all sane pollution control costs. I get your point, and it is a good one.

You have some sound advice about having a dog in the hunt. Since I'm not in the market for equities at the moment, though, I feel no compulsion to pay attention to the ticker wiggle. We might well see a good bottom come October, once the new realities of the American economy can no longer be denied by the few remaining diehard bulls and zombie 401(k) disinvestors.

And thanks for your remarks as well. I appreciate the reminders of the peccadilloes of trade, in all its permutations.
