I agree-though it's a risk for them. And politics, like war, is never the same twice. Clinton claimed credit for a good economy in 1996, and failed to get a majority. Gore had a better economy in 2000, and had to manufacture votes to even make it look close. Just as the "third rail" of Social Security propaganda is rapidly fading, the idea that we can elect socialists and maintain a prosperity is a tougher sell every cycle. The emergence of the "investor class" has that effect.
