Bulgogi was a real favorite.

You can get bulgogi subs on street corners around here. I absolutely love the stuff. It's my favorite style of BBQ (along with North Carolina pulled pork, that is). And I adore garlic. Put it in everything. I need to go to Gilroy some day. Korean restaurants are common around here. Just about every strip mall has one. Many have sushi bars. Most have table grills. And luncheon buffets where you can get a little bit of everything. Nibble on sushi while your food is grilling.

I mis-spoke about the Ethiopian flavors. The hot spice is berbere. The grey from my grey cells has all migrated to my hair.

I don't think I've ever had broccoli slaw, though.

EDIT: There's a Chinese restaurant around here, a favorite of Bush, senior, that serves garlic shoots. Now that's special.
