Gottfried; ok, I'll try it, after at least attempting to delete the IE 5.5 file. But this is a very peculiar thing that the add/remove programs could not delete the program & that i was completely unable to install an earlier version EVEN after I "took out" the file. I was getting a bit suspicious. If the new one has no problems, I'll be happy. Tx :) Will let you know.

Gottfried, so far, so good. A privacy icon has appeared above the systray & I'll figure that out tomorrow. But I also value choice. This time hitting ADD/REMOVE programs offers 3 choices - 1. ADD COMPONENT 2. REPAIR 3. RESTORE previous (previous, not original) Windows configuration. Hmnn. If I try to remove Outlook Express eg. I get 'are you sure you want to completely remove.." I was quite sure I wanted to remove IE 5.5, but was unable to do it. And, if I want to remove 6, I can only go back to 5.5. No problem if 6 doesn't give the problems of 5.5 :) Will check in tomorrow; probably just a buggy previous upgrade.

I've been using IE6

Have you noticed some items not working since Java is not automatically supported in this browser? I am curious if Datek streamer works.
