How many would volunteer to go? I think you'd be lucky to get 10,000.

Interesting. Now I see that we have an entirely different set of assumptions. I envisioned all the small farmers who have been bought out going for the land. And all the unemployed loggers. And sun cities sprouting up all over the place for retirees looking for warm climates and affordable homes. And flocks of missionaries. Biologists and geologists. Urban parents looking for a nice place to raise kids. Adventurers. Unemployed and underemployed people. Illegal aliens. People who buy lottery tickets.

I was expecting to get arguments on morality, not practicality. I guess we've lost whatever expansionist urges we might once have had.
