QLGC....

QLogic's InfiniBand-to-Fibre Channel I/O module technology and 15-port 2.5 Gbs InfiniBand switch

Infiniswitch/Banderacom....

InfiniSwitch's 32-port 1u Leaf Switch enables flexibility in connecting a variety of configurations ranging from rack-dense 1u servers in a standalone application solution to the ``first network connection'' in a larger System Area Network cluster.

Those of you with connections in the biz. QLGC has been at the Iband table as long or longer than Iswitch. QLGC has the first 16 port FC ASIC. I assume if they really wanted they could have displayed a 16 port Iband ASIC and a 32 port switch? Why didn't they? Are they dogging it? Any thoughts out there? Slightly confused in Michigan.

One possible solution is the so called Protocal independant switch that many vendors mention(including Infiniband, MCDT etc). If QLGC were to use the SANblade for FC,iSCSI, and the SANbox with iSCSI, Iband, FC modules they could cover all the bases?

Will Iband be all embedded in the server or will there be external switches also?

Thanks for any help.
