I agree with you and would be happy to surrender all deductions for a flat tax.

Regarding the richest 1%, they pay a third of all taxes. The people not paying their "fair share" are the lowest 50%.

The richest 1% pay more than their fair share now. The top 1% pay 33% of taxes. The top 10% pay 2/3 of all income taxes. I wish there was just a simple FLAT tax. I too would be willing to give up all my deductions for a flat tax.
