I was sorry they left out that great line about Jenny being an enthusiastic housekeeper, and "hoping for no better profession". I read some of the Adams' letters years ago, when I did 1776- they had a wonderful relationship for that time. Even a steamy one. There were probably many marriages that managed a sort of intellectual equality at least at home, but they had to overcome the biases of the day. I just looked up Abigail- great quote: "Let each planet shine in their own orbit, God and nature designed it so. If man is Lord, woman is Lordess — that is what I contend for, and if a woman does not hold the Reigns of Government, I see no reason for her not judging how they are conducted"
