Apparently, only a few understood the marketing power of Mhz...and how it pertains to pricing. One could see it coming over a year ago.
The hope was that Jerry would somehow push out the Hammer on time...but all that happened was the Mustang was scrapped, the Palomino delayed and the T-bird on .18u ran out of Mhz...
For some reason Hammer got pushed back 6-12 months (we never heard much about it anyway) or more and then Jerry and the boys dumped a bunch of stock...
Meanwhile, Intel just keep scrambling along.
AMDs best hope right now is the nForce chipset and that isn't even under their control...
I don't have a lot of faith in AMD burning the midnight oil on Hammer either as Dirk is perhaps a victim of the peter principle.
Meanwhile perhaps Elmer yearns for San Fran....
