15K into 250K in 20 years amounts to a 14.7% return per annum having used considerable leverage... I would have rather held a few shares of Berkshire Hathaway or GE during that period.

$15K in BRKa in 1982 = +$1MM today
$15K in GE in 1982 = $570K today

(hindsight is 20/20)
