WBMW,

Yes, but the Hyper-Threading, 30% improvement regardless of the chip, correct? This may be a very simplistic (or naive) explanation, but say a 3 GHz performs like a 4 GHz (???). How does anyone catch up.

Maybe I'm reading this all wrong, I am technology challenged. Just seems to me, on the surface, that this could propel Intel so far ahead, that the other guys (Sun and IBM in servers, AMD in PC's) might not even be in the ballpark.

John

WBMW, What segment do they have left? Answer: the value space.

I don't think so. Intel seems pretty aggressive in this space too. With the new 12" 0.13 micron fabs coming online I see a lot of capacity for Tualatins and low-frequency Northwoods.
