'"Let's talk about what would be necessary to create a market system in Canada," said John Ragosta, a lawyer and lobbyist with the Washington-based Coalition for Lumber Imports.'

Translation - "Let's make them fire sale their land to the FOs that cut my paycheques"

Snowshoe,

The duties results in $B being transferred from the Canadian lumber producers to the American lumber producers. With a couple of billions of dollars, the Americans could buy out all of the Canadian companies if they wanted to ... Slocan, West Fraser, probably all of the major producers.

The Canadian Government ought to pass a law that says that any American lumber company that received $ from the duties is forbidden from buying any Canadian Forest products company. Otherwise the Americans will buy out the Canadian industry with their own money. After the Americans control the Canadian market, then the duty will disappear.
