Looks like you may be right. But from this article, heterosexual women seem to be the leaders in the rate of increase. And it appears that the rate has dropped with IV drug users.

Forty-two percent of new infections are occurring in gay men, 33 percent in heterosexuals infected during sex and 25 percent in injecting drug users, she said. Infections in heterosexual women are increasing more rapidly than any other group.

Note that the overall percentage of new infections is higher in gay men, but the *rate* of increase is higher in heterosexual women.
