Dear Fingolfen:

Fell for the Intel dog and pony show, hook, line and sinker again? Perhaps you just want them to do the "Psycho" act to you in your portfolio (shower) again.

Pete

Re: P4 is starting to outpace the K7

Outpace it where? How?

P4's actual speed is half its advertised speed - it's like Apple's ploy that it's 33MHZ FSB chip was a 66MHZ since it ran at 66MHZ internally.

P4 can load instructions into the chip only every other clock. A P4 1800 is actually a P4 900/1800 - and the performance shows it.

Intel's pulling the same crap Apple pulled when the 68030 couldn't scale with the 386. Intel double clocked (and double-double clocked) some internal units and used that frequency to cover up the fact that speed at which the chip can actually process instructions is too slow.
