Andreas, re: New AMD marketing compaign

<Now let's see what AMD's marketing team is capable of.>

rotfl

< (prepare for the worst, hope for the best?) >

the former, big time. powerball odds on the latter. <g>

<However, the whole marketing campaign won't work if AMD don't stick to their roadmap and can't at least hold up with P4 in relative clock-speed (i.e. not falling more than 40% behind P4 in MHz).>

Using the term "marketing campaign" in the same sentence with "AMD" is against some sort of thread rule, isn't it?

<BTW, according to c't AMD said at IDF that 1.5 GHz will still appear this month.>

That's good news. The question remains: tbird or pally?

Ok, they have until the end of the week. Gotta love AMD's strategic marketing. <g>

I think that "prepare for the worst, hope for competence, pray that they hired the 'got milk?' guys" is a more applicable phrase. ;)

I disagree. Any decent marketing campaign will help, if only a little, regardless of AMD's position, because people will start hearing the name and associating it as being normal with computers.

Good. I won't complain, though, if they decide to surprise us and do better. :p

Andreas,

BTW, according to c't AMD said at IDF that 1.5 GHz will still appear this month.

Mentally, you may be in September, but my calendar still says August, and I think the probability of 1.5 GHz this month is very low.
