devo, I cannot actually link you there, but I have heard that certain aspects of web traffic have slowed to a mere 100% growth, but you see this is a bit different from the high-growth apps which Winnick is targeting. Winnick is pinning a lot of hope on digital cinema and VoIP to generate attraction for GX offerings. High width backbones are simply not going to cut it in the sense of competitiveness. If the bandwidth market returns to the locked-in incumbent offerings, as has happened with DSL, then these attractive offerings may not appear until such time as the legacy gear is phased out. (DSL is simply being used as an example of what happens when competition is excluded from the market via incumbent smothering of startups.)

Other reports on bandwidth annual increase vary between 200% and now, 400%.
