Combjelly, Re: "It seems to me that there were plenty of 866 and 933MHz PIIIs sold, and still being sold. So where do you get your numbers?"

I get my impressions from the many OEMs that are selling Pentium III systems. These pages change all the time, but if you were to look at them periodically over the last quarter, you would see that all the recommended product lines included 1GHz Pentium III processors. On many sites, the only two choices available were 1GHz Pentium III or 800MHz Celeron. This was especially apparent at Dell, one of Intel's largest, if not the largest customer. Additionally, many of the retail lines included the 1GHz Pentium III processor in their product lines. I have seen this on their web pages, and by looking into the stores. Best Buy, Fry's, Costco, CompUSA... a great majority of the stores had the 1GHz Pentium III in the majority of the computers. If you want a link, I cannot provide one. You can either trust me, or take what I say with a grain of salt. It hardly seems like Intel could be having yield problems with the vast majority of 1GHz Pentium III processors that I have seen over the past few months.
