TVX Restructures Gold Hedge Positions

Aug 27, 2001 (BNamericas.com via COMTEX) -- Toronto-based TVX Gold (NYSE:TVX)
said it has completed a restructuring of its gold hedge positions, and at the
same time cut its debt by US$17.6mn.

"The new conservative hedge program continues to provide downside protection;
however, more importantly, it provides the company with all of the benefit of
any future increase in the price of gold,'' said TVX president and CEO Sean
Harvey.

TVX has a 50:50 joint venture with Australia's Normandy Mining (ASX: NDY)
covering their assets in the Americas, which include shares in La Coipa
gold-silver mine in Chile and Brazil's Brasilia and Crixas gold mines.

No, still don't bash ABX, just would rather not own large amounts of more deeply hedged miners. Would rather have greater exposure to improving gold price.
