Hi John,
I agree that the major problem with multi threading is software validation. Most people have avoided multi threading unless the payoff was dramatic.

Today's hardware technology trends make multi threading inevitable. The industry has to develop tools to test multi threaded software for potential hazards. Djistra wrote a book on parallel processes almost twenty years ago, and presented a design methodology for multi threaded software. However someone needs to develop a software testing tool for analyzing all multi threaded software. Unless this happens the industry may heading for worse software reliability than exists today.
