Inflation will be the result of a collapsed USDollar, wherein imports cost more, with money scarce this will also increase the cost of borrowing (ie: interest rates).. The article goes into all of this..

Oblomov, you hit the nail on the head. An inflationary depression, the wet dream of gold bugs, is an extremely unlikely event. Even a dollar collapse will not trigger it in the US, since the US is practically self-sufficient in everything or can easily become so with relatively little effort. On the other hand, a plain old deflationary depression is becoming more likely -- although at this point it's still improbable.
