ROTFLMAO!!!! I heard snippets of this on the radio last night. Now let's see. This thing was sold as allowing consumers to pick and switch between power companies, thus bringing about competition and insuring lower rates, right?

SO NOW the legisrats have decreed we can't switch power generators- -we have to use THEIR power generators. Thus totally defeating the original purpose. And all because the state gov't, in its infinite wisdom, decided, for political purposes to go into the energy business, buying energy at high prices and selling it at low prices, annihilating the state budget surplus accumulated over many years, and doing this so that electricity prices didn't spike up and piss off the voters, thus destroying Davis's 2002 re-election. (Is that a run-on sentence or what?) The state futures purchases of power were at unusually high prices (which they were told and warned about at the time). Now the state is stuck with the bill- -unless it can stiff me. But it can, since it can legally use force to make me do things its way- -something Enron, et. al. can't. So it is going to use its monopoly on force to stick me with the bill for its stupidity (and very;likely, corruption, since the ISO which negotiated those contracts was rife with conflict of interest.)

Impeachment? Recall? Anyone?
