Hi MrsNose,

My daughter is starting grade 4 next week, while my son is only two so still a daycare situation. I work from home and my wife works part time, so we do get flexible schedules and can spend lots of time with our kids. I think the parent involvement (otherwise why bother having kids) is paramount.

I think this will keep her from getting bored.
This is an issue with my daughter. So we need lots of activities for her. School comes too easily for her and this doesn't encourage good study habits. This, from my own experience, is a worry.

The gr.1 child will be going into a 1/2 split class
My daughter will experience that also this year, a 4/5 split and I think it's a benefit. I was in split classes in elementary school twice and they were my favourite years.

Well done Mrs Nose

It cost me an arm and a leg but each friday I would take my son to the bookstore and let him buy himself a book as a reward for meeting some goal that week. It hurt the wallet but that bookstore became one of those magic places that he wanted to go to .Without a lie there are close to 7000- books in our house. The biggest problem is trying to get them to "PUT THAT BOOK DOWN" on the way to school each morning.

No comercial TV- just the odd video on the weekend .

Reading is one of the greatest gifts to give anyone.

Take care

I am glad you my earlier post Peter. Laughter is also a wonderful gift to pass around and considering my lack of stock finds lately its about all I got to share. <ggg>
