It's a high risk strategy to deceive the consumer.

The best case for AMD is that the consumer will be confused, and a confused consumer doesn't remove the credit card from the wallet. The worst case is that he will think AMD is being dishonest. And that could really hurt the brand, forever.

This will allow AMD to introduce new products even though they can not actually increase clock speed. Just introduce a Model 1800 when they find a new benchmark for those narrow cobblestone streets.

All that is required is some marking paint and a BIOS change. None of that messy increasing speed work required.

That came from Tom, not AMD...
Who knows how and if AMD will rate it's chips...
All I know is they should have prepared for this day a year ago..
