Elmer,

Re: "If some poor deranged individual is claiming it makes AMD's process
superior then just chock it up to ignorance on his part and move on."

It doesn't happen often, but I have to agree with you. <ggg>

Make It So,

The deranged individual has a friend who's
significant other (EE PhD BTW) was working for
Intel at a time when K6 arrived.
Her word was that after the K6 chip was crossected and
etched, Intel's process development individuals
felt down from their chairs astounded by quality
of interconnects and gates. Of course, they said
that the design sucked (I guess they referred to
5-stage K6 micro-architecture, and I must agree),
but not the manufacturing quality.

So, chock it up and barf, individual.

Er, weren't you the one claiming AMD was getting the same performance out of their .18 process as Intel will be getting from their .13?

Intel has run a separate process line to boost CuMine binsplits in the past.

Sure... they just put some of those PHDs in Oregon to work
and in no time ..... Voila!.... the 1.13GHz PIII sprung to life. So... maybe there is something to be said for the Monkey See/Monkey Do approach.
