wanna_bmw, RE: IPC*MHz formula

The point is, AMD needs to do something regardless of whether or not whatever they choose might backfire. I prefer going with The Truth (TM JJ), no matter how difficult it is to understand (even though I think a good ad campaign would make all the difference).

A deceptive ploy, such as the model-hurtz scheme would probably do "okay". The difference is, AMD will get many more of the 'droids to go to bat for them (i.e. convince friends/family/neighbors to buy AMD, proudly brag of owning AMD processor, etc.) if they go with The Truth. If they try to cover up the real MHz with Modelhurtz, then many of the 'droids of the world will not only NOT go to bat for them, but they may jump ship themselves due to embarrasment.

BWDIK,

JJ
