Jim, Re: "seems your solution is for AMD just to fold the tent. Which would be great for Intel investors."

I don't expect AMD to fold the tent. I expect them to continue to innovate. Here Intel is hosting a development forum, and introducing all kinds of new technology to solve the industry's real problem: that of customer demand. If you listen to Intel's keynotes ( intel94.com ), you'll see that Intel has their priorities right when it comes to getting out of a recession. AMD, on the other hand, still can't get the idea out of its head that Intel is the only enemy. Intel realizes that AMD is just one aspect of their business, so they are doing something about the larger problem, and using the rest of the industry to help them. Meanwhile, AMD is figuring out ways to do deceptive marketing, and people like Dan3 are cheering them on. See the difference?

P.S. If AMD is indeed scrambling over their product releases, then no amount of marketing will save them in the long run. Better to invest the money in future R&D.
