Ebay isn't a tech stock, simply because it uses technology as its media to provide a service. That would be like saying online brokers are tech stocks, because they use technology to provide a service.


That is a totally incorrect analogy. Online brokers provide more than a service to buy and sell stocks. In addition, there is a point where an on-line broker uses a tech firm to provide parts of their service. That is called outsourcing. Ebay is not outsourcing but rather develops the majority of their service in house.
