Sector tidbits:

1:32PM KLA-Tencor (KLAC) 50.07 -1.32 (-2.6%): For those interested, semiconductor equipment maker will hold a live webcast at the ABN AMRO Asia Tech 5 Conference; begins at 1:45 ET. (http://ir.kla-tencor.com/calendar-detail.cfm?EventID=5910&companyid=klac)

1:16PM Advanced Micro (AMD) 14.04 -0.82 (-5.5%): -- Update -- Have seen semiconductor equipment makers such as Applied Materials (AMAT -3.1%), Novellus (NVLS -4.1%) and competitor Intel (INTC -2.2%) edge to lows of the day in reaction to AMD revenue guidance. Depending on how investors interpret AMD's comments on flash memory, flash vendors such as ATML, SNDK, SSTI could be impacted.

9:45AM Novellus (NVLS) 48.69 -0.85 (-1.7%): (Pre-Market comment) SG Cowen expects company to reaffirm guidance on mid-qtr conference call tomorrow; sees management announcing that rate of order cancellation has slowed, which should point to a somewhat sustainable current level of activity.
__________

I don't know if the analyst comments about AMAT taking TI business from NVLS has been officially confirmed (http://biz.yahoo.com/oo/010824/63418.html) but if true, the NVLS CC could be interesting tomorrow.
