Cps,

Looks like no equity offering any time soon for KWK after Dain's downgrade last week.

It's kinda hard to go to your best institutional clients and tell them you have a great stock to buy after you just told your retail clients to sell it:-))

I'd bet McDonald will be next to downgrade, they always run about two weeks behind the pack. Jack Aydin was asking a good question on the conference call, "how much will the reserves be written down at year end if NG prices decline from $10.00 per Mcf to $3.50?" Looks like he missed the price a little.

KWK is a classic case of "greed". The highest leveraged stock in the sector and selling at a 50% premium to it's peers, and they hire a PR firm in Houston to pump the stock price higher when the equity markets were wide open for energy.

If I were a director, I'd fire both the CEO and CFO. They bet the company and lost.

I once had a boss who was highly regarded on Wall Street. He used to call about once a week, and always had the same closing remarks; 1) in a cyclical industry, the best time to raise equity is when it's available, 2) there is no such thing as "cheep equity".

I once had lunch with his mentor who told me the same thing. When he died, Life magazine did a feature story on his life. His picture was on the front page with the caption "The god father of wall street"

Interesting days,

Jim
