Xenophobia is universal. Rightly so.

The current absurdity of shipsful of people wanting to use Australia as their new, free, home has to be stopped. Australians have paid for and built a large amount of infrastructure and developed social institutions. Freeloaders love the look of it.

They could do the same in their own countries if their cultures weren't so barbaric. They pray to Mecca, then bring superstitious, extremist, dominance hierarchy ideas and ways to Australia and pretty soon Australia will look like Afghanistan. Interest rates will be illegal. The dole will be so burdened the country will go broke. It would be mayhem to let ashore anyone who shows up unannounced in a ship.

If Australia lets one shipful in, there will be a LOT of boats following. It'll be like Dunkirk in Indonesia as hordes flee their hovels from Istanbul to Easter Island for the luxury of a taxpayer-funded life on the Gold Coast. There will be a roaring trade in illegal immigration into Indonesia as bribes are paid to let in intending invaders of Australia.

Americans call foreigners aliens. Japanese don't like them. Most countries won't tolerate invasion. There is an eons long history of territorial protection going back to the first plant which tried to take over another's sunlight.

Interestingly, the battleground has shifted from DNA wars to political system wars.

The answer is for the United Nations to employ the hordes who want to go to Ausralia [USA, Canada, New Zealand, Britain etc...], give them rifles, invade Afghanistan, declare it to be a UN country, hold elections and the UN can become the Federal component of a worldwide colonial federation system [along the lines of the federal system in the USA]. Countries like Rwanda and others where mayhem rules could be simply colonized. Most locals would love it. The local power-trippers wouldn't because they DON'T like democracy - they want power and democracy is not a way for them to get it.

Colonialism is good. That's why the refugees travel thousands of kilometres at great expense and risk to life to become colonized by a better community. They WANT colonisation. Colonization is GOOD! Most of them would prefer to live in their own country if only it would be colonized rather than them have to travel around the world at their own expense to be colonized.

It would be reasonably simple. Invade the war zone with the UN. Hold a "Colonisation Now?" referendum. If "Yes!", then colonize the place, hold elections and reduce the UN presence to its federal position. If "No!" then the UN could leave them to it.

Bill Clinton could be the first UN Federation President. He'd be good at that. I'm serious.

Of course, as with Globalstar, that probably won't happen so, as Jay fears, we'll more likely deteriorate to warring zones of poverty with invasions of refugees to neighbouring countries, which will resist the invasions.

I don't have any problems with foreigners! I am a global person.... I grew up with two immigrant parents in Britain - though my Aussie mother never took UK citizenship - and I have lived in Israel and the US as well. In principle I am in favor of free immigration but recognize that some restrictions are need to allow smooth adjustment and not alarm local populations. It is unfair that Europe poured out emmigrants all over the world for centuries and now the rich countries want to stop the reverse flow.
