both the DJIA and the NYA have pretty bearish patterns.... they look like they are breaking down from
descending triangles.....selling coming in at lower levels

SUNW not helping after the close today

Sun Microsystems (SUNW) 13.43 -0.13: -- Update -- Thinks it is a "real, real stretch" for SUNW to be able to hit $3.7 bln revenue mark this qtr as it is not realistic given the signals it is seeing now... separately, says that the competitive front is fierce but that it hasn't lost any significant deals to competition... pricing environment is tough, but not dramatically tougher than last qtr... SUNW -0.44; related competitors include CPQ, ORCL, MSFT, HWP, IBM and EMC

After Hours Movers : Prices vs 4 pm close... SUNW -0.40 selling off on questions regarding whether it can meet break even for the current quarter. ALTR +0.04 bidding modestly higher after affirming guidance; magnitude of the move has been impacted by SUNW warning. GLW -0.60 trading lower on guidance that unit shipments will be lower than previously expected. TECD +4.40 is the late session's big winner after it beat the Street by eight cents and guided higher.

Sun Microsystems (SUNW) 13.43 -0.13: -- Update -- Notes that it will exit Q1 with about 500 fewer employees than it did in prior qtr... says that fiscal Q1, on a linear basis, is running a bit less than normal historically and is slightly less on a linear basis than what was seen at this time in prior quarter.... indicates that Europe and Japan have clearly been the weakest regions versus its own expectations and that U.S. is just a touch behind what it was expecting... thinks break-even revenue point is now probably a little lower than $3.7 bln given its expense management, but is refraining from providing concrete revenue guidance for qtr... SUNW -0.58
