The main folks Jerry has to convince right now are his Board and his bankers. He has been in this spot before and succeeded. ... I think the best description for Jerry is to liken him to PT Barnum.

In the meantime, if you'd invested in AMD 20 years ago, you would have doubled your money in those years for a 4.29% annual return. Adjusted for inflation, that's roughly an annual gain of 0.8% in real dollars (assuming an average of 3.5% average annual inflation -- just my guess).

If you'd invested in INTC 20 years ago, you'd be up about 50X for an annual gain of 21.38%. After inflation, an annual gain of 17.9% per year in real dollars.
