It is what it is. I don't doubt that they focus on the longer term, although of course they must also handle short term issues. Apparently you disagree? Do you really think they have a short term focus, given the history of the company and its management? I just don't see that. Like anybody, they "make hay while the sun <g> shines," but the R&D that is so integral to the business is inherently long term.
