the problem here is not pr rating, I think, but rather that amd gone the long way since then in establishing it's reputation. Any reminder about the time when amd sucked is not needed.
I do not buy into the idea that "MHz sells" and hence amd model numbers are just as useless as MHz
what amd probably needed to do is to get together with partners and sponsor 3rd party organization to establish standard uniform benchmarking for performance. Those benchmarks, in turn, can be used to advertize.
There is no need for diorect comperison with intel while there are no standards for benchmarking

This fake PR stuff never allowed AMD or Cyrix to command ANY premiums in ASP's.

AMD should have empahsized where it is better than Intel in performance.

They could do a whole lot more to increase sales than this lame approach.

And they set themselves to be smacked on the side of the head by intel when they respond to fake Mhz.
