Dan,

re:"Athlon 4 already has higher performance, to the degree that helps sales, they achieved that advantage.

The wattage difference in power consumption in a notebook with DDR vs. SDRAM is less than the difference in power consumption between a 900MHZ processor and a 950MHZ processor - it's just not important.

AMD has other areas to which its efforts are better directed. "

Dan, you have your blinders on again.

AMD has MISSED a lucrative opportunity:

1. To market a "better solution".

They could claim 2x frequency over Intel solution.

They could claim that finally you can get desktop performance in a laptop for the "first time".

This would allow consumers to to differentiate AMD as a technolgy innovator and LEADER in the market.

2. By getting into a leadership position they can help to shore up margins and increase market penetration while trying to maintain decent ASP's.

My point is that AMD had a MAJOR OPPORTUNITY.

They FAILED.

I doubt if we'll see any AMD DDR laptop solutions this year.

And thats a real shame IMHO.

regards,

Kash
