coffee ....

back a while .... actually a long while ... when I was in my early thirties I was driving down the road one day and thought ... nope, I didn't "think" ... I KNEW I was having a heart attack ....

as I was in the boonies (the REAL boonies -- as in thiry miles from a hospital) I decided the best thing to do was to make a good act of contrition, head to the doctor, and drive like hell .....
now, I confess that I did make one of those "foxhole prayers" .. you know .. "DearGodpleaaaase get me out of this and I'll be a goooooood boy forever and ever amen"

as the doc was and still is my next door neighbor I had no trouble in getting immediate attention ...
nope ...he says ... no evidence of a heart attack from the prelims -- the quickie emergency room kind, but still thorough ...
so he schedules me first thing next morning for my first ever stress test ....

that comes out ok ... the ekg comes out ok ... the blood work comes out ok ... hey ... I'm the picture of health
but I'd FELT that immense pressure on my chest .. I couldn't breath properly .. really hard to catch my breath ...

whatsmatter doc ...

so .. through the thirty questions .. more like three hundred ...
comes to coffee consumption
well, doc, just normal ...
how much is "normal" Nemer?

he made me mentally count the cups I'd had the day before ...
closest I could get to being in the area of accurate was
thirty to forty cups ...
he said INONEDAY?
I said yep ...

well sir, to this day, I've had no more chest pains ...
and true to my foxhole prayer .... I now drink fewer than three cups per day .....

oh yeah ....
at that time he DID want me to quit smoking those five/six packs of cigarettes per day .....
which did get to eight before I quit them ....

see to what you have to look forward ??????
hehehehehe
