Cows are generally known to be stupid animals but I am also hard-headed. I decided to have another go at IE 6. (thanks to cable-less than 2 minute download) Exact same results. Here's a screenshot of what I was talking about. Those icons look downright ugly.

home.midsouth.rr.com

I found the media bar (not exactly what I would prefer also) and found where my vertical sliding toolbar adjusters went. Under View |Toolbars | Lock the toolbars. A checkmark next to this option disables the resizing and sliding and sliding options. The floating image toolbars are a bit annoying to me as well. In the long run, I think I would be distracted too much by them. They're probably easily disabled so no biggie there.

The icon and ghosting problem is still present and I'm wondering if the Google Toolbar that I use is causing IE6 problems. On the screenshot linked above my mouse pointer is pointing where the google toolbar option used to be. It now only appears under View | Explorer Bar. When I clicked on this choice it added the Google Toolbar at the bottom of the screen as well as the top.

I consider my Google Toolbar more essential than a newer version of IE so I'm now back to IE 5.

Anyone else using Google with their IE6?

tc :-)
