tc & bosquedog, thank you for the article on Stimon. I hadn't a clue what it (Stimon) was. I have a Umax scanner & a Minolta scanner (& a website) which well antedate the error message. But I just got a digital toy camera & have kept its USB cable plugged permanently in after I download the images & the camera has been removed. Maybe that's like an open circuit?? Guessing wildly here. So I just unplugged it. I will do a few tries next time I open up, with the cable plugged & unplugged & will let you know results - if I don't receive a suggestion that cables don't work that way <g>

Am glad to be reminded of the Microsoft resource & that you can get translations there. Thanks again! (I think I wouldn't mind putting Rambooster back, if I can find the gift package:) Also, IE 6 (2600) is performing well.
