Yes, correctly. (Don't want to have a go at my problem?) Economists academic outputs' other main targets are governments. (look at how frequently the terms 'social' and 'welfare' appear in their papers.

I think is a way of students of economics to hedge their bets: You can always try to find a job in a government bureaucracy if you find out you cannot compete for a job in the private sector.

Thus, directing your academic output to government related issues -or looking to economic issues under a legislators' perspective- is a positive act for this hedging.

I will complete my economics course by the end of day. That because I only look to the path that lead to the depths ad forget about the other utterly irrelevant stuff.
