Hey, what ever happened to all that talk about China???

Boston, Aug 30, 2001 (MidnightTrader via COMTEX) Dell Computer (DELL) is shifting lower this morning on 4,000 Instinet shares after a senior executive told Reuters wire service the company expects technology spending cutbacks in the AsiaPacific region to continue and the company remains cautious on PC demand over the next few months. The executive noted that Q2 and Q3 will be much the same with budgets remaining tight. Additionally, he said recent forecasts from International Data Corp. regarding PC demand in Asia are overly optimistic, and DELL expects IDC will retreat from those numbers by the quarter's end.

Hi Meathead, I really wasn't trying to compare Dell's and Gtw's product offerings. My original statement was simply meant to say that Gtw was offering better pricing than Dell. I called Gtw's sales number and in talking to their representative, I was told that they could "knock" off another $100 to #200 dollars! I'm giving serious thought to buying a new pc when Windows XP is shipped.

When I do buy the pc, I'm sure I'll stay with Dell. So far, I've purchased three pc's from them and have been very satisfied.

By the way, with respect to quality and reliability, there is very little difference between the major components such as video cards, disk drives, keyboards, etc. I do agree the major differences are in the monitors. A friend has a Gtw system with the FPD, and I must admit that it looked very good. I can't comment on its reliability.

Stock Bull

PS: What do you make of Dell's Asian announcement today? As you know, the stock is getting hammered. Looks like we are going into the teens.
