No disagreement about that. But I also think the latest steep drop in prices of telecom, storage and software stocks is not rational. What I can't tell is whether it is current holders bailing out at 90% loss, or is it short sellers trying to force prices lower.

I just can't believe that normal people will sell at half price what they bought a few days ago. So I conclude it is the shorts. Especially since down volume is low (from lack of retail demand for stocks). Of course as long as employment is deteriorating, demand for stocks will stay low. ANd that should continue for months, I think.

So the shorts and bears may be safe for a while. And given tax loss selling, and maybe a poor Christmas shopping season, it could stretch to the end of this year.
