Re: GLW--you're right that it looks awfully weak, and anything is now possible. The only favorable factor here is that GLW is financially in much better shape than its major competitors, such as LU, NT, JDSU, etc. Thus, GLW can withstand a major slump without having to sell off assets at fire sale prices, as LU has already been forced to do. That said, it now appears that Corning's earlier purchase of Pirelli's fiber optic operations was made at too high a price. On the other hand, the price was more reasonable than that paid by competitors for even higher priced assets.
