RE:"While often ideas about which companies might ally/absorb/meld with AMD turn out to be pipe dreams (e.g., transmeta, Dell), you have an interesting idea here. AMD has impressive engineering and intellectual property. But they are self-defeating in their marketing, strategic planning, execution timetable, etc. - all areas where Nvidia has demonstrated a real killer instinct. Interesting to think what Nvidia could do with the real assets of AMD with the demonstrated strengths they bring to the table - including focusing on how to maximize and capitalize on the strengths of AMD, rather than engaging in a jihad against Intel at any cost. I have owned Nvidia over the years, and it has been handsomely rewarding. I'm not in it at the moment, given that it has a ridiculously high PE in an environment when tech companies are getting sliced and diced in terms of stock price. But the high price of Nvidia is partly a function of their record of execution - relentlessly opportunistic, as opposed to the fumbling the ball at the goal line AMD seems to be so prone to."

Exactly my friend, exactly....

nVidia has become rather adventurous of late as well...especially with the knowledge gained from X-box and the golden opportunity opened up by a certain Taiwan chipset maker who can do no better than ship beta chipsets.

Not to meantion an interesting alliance forming between Intel and ATi, nvidias biggest competitor.
ATI getting into the integrated chipset market as well...

I wouldn't want to be VIA a shareholder right now. or Ali for that matter.

OTOH, just an observation, not starting rumor.
