[World DRAM Price] No Production Adjustments Seen Despite Continuous Price Declines
August 29, 2001 (TOKYO) -- DRAM prices continue to fall worldwide, but no leading DRAM microchip manufacturers are making substantial production adjustments.

DRAMs are the only semiconductor products whose production levels have been kept intact while other types of semiconductors have entered production adjustments.

According to a worldwide DRAM price survey conducted by ICIS-LOR, based in London, Houston, and Singapore, the 30-day rolling average prices of 128Mb DRAMs (PC133, 16 M x 8) through Aug. 10 (July 12-Aug. 10, 2001) for large-volume users were US$2.28 in North America, US$2.36 in Europe and Asia. When compared with the previous week (the 30-day rolling average prices through Aug. 3), the prices fell 4.56 percent in North America, 3.83 percent in Europe, 2.80 percent in Asia.

As for memory-module prices, the spot prices of 128MB DIMMs (PC133) fell 3.53 percent to US$14.39 in North America, 1.55 percent to US$14.18 in Europe, and 2.13 percent to US$13.03 in Asia, compared with the previous week.
