Daryl,
Bush is at a critical point in his presidency. It's a matter of the emperor having clothes or not. Now Reagan got the recession over early enough to get reelected in 1984. That may be the strategy but it will cost the Republicans congress so maybe its not the strategy. More than the just the US economy is at stake. This is an international problem that will lead to political instability and probably a major war involving newly developing countries who have the rug pulled out from under them(eg. china,russia,india). mike
PS What can Greenspan do? Jawbone corporate america into spending on growth privately which i am sure is being done and publicly if private cajoling does not work.
