I see a company that is obsessed with marketing that involves putting others down rather than blowing their own trumpet. It is not a good trait in people and I don't see how it can be good for business.

I have followed Intel for most of last decade as an investor (no more - they are now too big to give the kind of returns I am after). I don't see how Sun can ever make a processor that will beat Intel's best effort. Intel has a lot of momentum while Sun is struggling.

Talking of momentum, why would anyone buy Sun when they can buy from IBM or MS. I have worked in the industry since leaving school in 1991. I know MS/Windows has a reputation for being flakey, much of that is down to Win 95/98. NT and its successors is a different ball game. I spent many, many hours in and around data centres and vendor labs and I can tell you that Sun does not have any advantage on MS offerings in terms of stability. They do have a serious disadvantage in terms of price/performance and application choice.

I have spoken to directors who make purchasing decisions. It is easy to work out which ones are switched on and which ones are fat old clueless farts (sorry for the lack of clarity in this description but I think it gets the idea across). In almost all cases where a decision was made to buy Sun, it was made by the clueless against technical advice.

<<When you look back at the stock price today you'll laugh and wonder: "Why didn't I buy 50,000 sahres"?

Probably ....and hopefully, the same with beaten quality co's like ORCL and JDSU....who cares if you buy at $7 and it drops to $3, as long as 10 years from now it is much higher then $7........I can't time a bottom, nor how long it will last, but I will be quality when it gets real cheap, and be patient until a recovery happens, hopefully sometime in my lifetime. I will buy in to each stock slowly, so I can add every $2 drop...already have nice sized position in JDSU under $10...bought at $8.50 and $6.80, and will keep buying......already have some sunw, but will add a little at $9 and then keep adding every $2 drop....same with ORCL, FDRY, EXTR, NTAP and a few others......start the small position on a nice dip to get on board, but dont blow the whole wad...be prepared to buy all the way down....and then be prepared to wait it out and hopefully these quality companies will reward us with buys at $10, $8, $6, $4 and $2......if they get that low......
