Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think this has a reasonable shot at working. The trick will lie in completely eliminating Hz from being mentioned. I can easily see a shopper at Best Buy choosing between a P4 2GHz machine, and an Athlon XP 2G machine. The glossy trade mags will even find them comparable when they publish their silly articles. Cut-out copies of these articles will be placed near the machines at Best Buy etc.

If they can get the major OEMs (CPQ, HP, eMachines) to play, this could actually work.
