Something which must be considered is whether there will be significant tax loss selling this year since there are few people(as a general rule) who have major gains to offset.

Also, I think the point is being made that when comparisons are made to EPS from one time frame to another a bump up in Tech EPS will appear very large qtr. to qtr. and YOY.

One would think the market is more sophisticated than that and understands why comparisons can appear skewed especially % wise but look at recent headlines!

Many recent tech articles screamed: 95% Drop in Profits!

without really explaining well that many times firms had their greatest year ever one year earlier and now earnings are troughing in a tough time. Yet many investors run for cover at these headlines.

Paul rightfully points out when, say, Intel's story one year from now reports 80% jump in earnings YOY everyone will jump on board.
