Mobile WAP, SMS Alerts Toronto Shares Tumble to 22-Month Lows By Natalie James TORONTO (Reuters) - Toronto stocks receded on Thursday to levels not seen since November 1999 in a broad-based selloff sparked by worries that firms will take longer than expected to return to profitability in a weakening economy. The Toronto Stock Exchange 300 composite index slumped 76.69 points, or 1.02 percent, to 7,417.65, the lowest level since November 10, 1999 when the index finished at 7366.45. Volume was a moderate 111.8 million shares worth C$2.05 billion. Decliners beat advancers 677 to 362, with another 201 unchanged.
