So you make tables hierarchical or "object oriented" so their scope is determined by a control plane or by self-limitation. Why should a payload have the innate ability to reach any router on the planet? We don't give software program modules such scope.

The article indicates that MPLS control isn't a problem at Layer 2. At Layer 3 it can be a problem if you linearly extrapolate as Bush has done. However, BGP is a mighty nice way to fly. Can't we all just get along by using these protocols in a way that leverages their benefits without abusing their limitations? BGP works well in the delimited environment of the edge core, but not at a finer granularity at the edge edge. Why flush MPLS down the drain simply because its implementation at a greater control point is problematic?

The more the intelligence you want the less performance you will get. Use the right tools in the right place. Using a pipe wrench on a wrist watch won't work.

Hey, all these firms from JNPR to EXTR wish they had these problems!

Will RSTN benefit if CSCO is optimistic tonight? Trying to determine just how and if they actually compete?
Thanks
